Gita Sjahrir-Wright biographical notes

Gita Sjahrir is a 5 time serial entrepreneur, and one of the first female entrepreneurs to ever raise more than US$1 million in venture capital funding in Southeast Asia. She became Head of Investments for BNI Ventures in 2023, focusing on ESG investing and creating a framework for climate tech investing for Indonesia's SOE's. Gita is also a Special Advisor to the Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs, wherein she was part of the negotiations team for Indonesia's carbon market policy development and the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), the largest deal struck by the U.S. government and G7 countries to mobilize US$20 billion of funding to assist Indonesia's transition to a zero-carbon electricity grid before 2060. Her portfolio in the Ministry focuses on sustainability issues, including blue carbon development and biodiversity conservation programs in collaboration with African and Latin American partner countries.

Additionally, Gita is a board member of several publicly listed companies in Indonesia, driving investments into climate technology and addressing the hiring gender gap in traditional sectors of the Indonesian economy.

Gita is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (MBA), the University of Chicago (BA), and a Kauffman Fellow Class 27. She is also currently a Master in Public Administration (MPA) candidate from the University of North Carolina, Chapel-Hill.
